A fantastic work of Biblical fiction! Luis Serrano’s SAMSON beautifully adapts the action and heart of the Biblical story with gorgeous, energetic artwork and a script that delves deep into this complex and captivating man from scripture.

Doing a Biblical novel isn’t for the lazy, or the misinformed! One who tackles this laborious endeavor must study the characters and the environment of the story... Doing a comic book ins’t easy! Light and shadow must be conveyed properly. Attention to detail is key... Variations in panel structure and camera angles plays a huge part in creating a story that is captivating, and enticing, causing the reader to want to turn the next page! ... Well, let me introduce to a work that brings all that into play and more! THE STORY OF SAMSON THE NAZIRITE by Luis Serrano is done with...passion and dedication! Our Creator is glorified by it and I’m certain many will be blessed as well!

Luis Serrano’s STORY OF SAMSON lands in the imagination like a bolt of holy lightning! This action-packed telling of the life of Israel’s strongest judge delivers massive scope, gritty detail, breathtaking visions of the supernatural, and the most complete rendition of the biblical account to date. An incredible artistic achievement! And a thrilling opportunity to learn the true story of Samson.

SAMSON THE NAZIRITE is undeniably in my wheelhouse: a Biblical comic with stunning art and so much attention to detail and love for the story. Further, it doesn’t shy away from the gritter parts of scripture; packing a punch of realism that will have youth, teenagers, college-age or beyond clamoring for more. DO NOT pass it up!

We really enjoyed getting the printed copy of SAMSON THE NAZIRITE. My kids spent hours looking at the art and reading the story in print. The art is amazing, and storytelling is well done!

I employ caution when considering the media that my family consumes. Approaching supplemental biblical material, I am careful to scrutinize it for details and things that are not in the Bible. All too often, I have found that well-meaning publishers add non-biblical details to adult and children’s material that can functionally change the stories. SAMSON THE NAZIRITE does an impeccable job taking the content of the story, imagining phenomenal visuals, and not straying from scriptural accuracy. It is episodic, exciting, inspiring, and stunning!

I could not get my nine-year-old to put it down to come to dinner. As soon as he saw SAMSON THE NAZIRITE, flipped through a couple of pages to see the breathtaking art, and realized this was a Bible story and that he could read it; he could not take his eyes off of it. Keep in mind that this is not only for kids, I think parents may actually enjoy it more than their kids! The Bible is filled with incredible stories and heroes, and to see Samson, a conflicted and questionable figure, creatively portrayed was so exciting because it gave my son enjoyment and generated an opportunity for he and I to talk about how God uses flawed people for His purposes. Samson’s biblical narrative is filled with things that may not be ok for younger or sensitive audiences, but this graphic novel depicts a well-imagined ancient Israel story with such tact and sincerity that I was happy to allow him to read it. It is a wonderful companion to the Biblical text and has inspired our family to think of what other Bible stories may have looked like.
